Xolotl is the Aztec god of lightning and death.
He is the main antagonist of Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light.
Xolotl was worshipped as a god by the ancient Mayan people, commanding an army of followers and monsters. Unsatisfied with his status, he sought to plunge the world into eternal darkness so he could rule undisputed.
Totec, Guardian of Light, had led his army against Xolotl's army of darkness. Totec defeated and expelled Xolotl. Totec then imprisoned himself at the Temple of Light, before turning himself to stone, ready to awaken should the Mirror of Smoke be removed.
Several thousand years later, Lara Croft, discovered the resting place of the Mirror of Smoke, however she was followed by a local warlord named Vasco who also sought the mirror. Vasco removes the Mirror which releases Xolotl, who slaughters Vasco and his men. Totec awakened but Xolotl escapes, proclaiming his to plunge the world into to darkness, like he had tried to do thousands of years prior.
Xolotl sends his legions of minions to slow down Totec and Lara, to no avail, as they eventually catch up to him, in his temple, after a long battle, Xolotl is once again sealed in the Mirror of Smoke. Lara returns the Mirror to it's pedestal, and Totec returns to stone, standing guard for the next time Xolotl awakens.
