Werner Von Croy is a character from Tomb Raider: The Series comics from issues #32 and #33, retelling the story of Tomb Raider: The Angel of Darkness. He also makes a cameo in the one-shot Tomb Raider: Epiphany.
Biography[]
Werner Von Croy was an old mentor of Lara Croft, she even regarded him as a second father. Their relationship went bad years later when Werner tried to kill lara in the tomb where Scorpion Staff was hidden.[1]
Von Croy contacted Lara to obtain one of the Obscura Paintings from Morocco in exchange of Opal of Nepal. But he also sent mercenaries to get it from her once she did obtain it. Werner was informed of the failing of his agents, and he wowed to take care of Croft himself.[2]
Lara came to Paris to meet Von Croy in person, they started to talk business in front of Von Croy's apartment in the rain. During which Von Croy was shot by accident by his own man, who was killed and aim altered by The Cabal assassins. Von Croy was still barely alive and Lara asked why he tried to kill her. With his dying words Werner revealed that Pieter Van Eckhardt had promised him immortality, and he knew that Lara would try to stop him.[3]
It is revealed that Werner Von Croy had two children Clayton Von Croy and Kyra Von Croy who also went after the Scorpion Staff using Werner's old map.[1]
