Tomb Raider: The Dark Angel Symphony

Tomb Raider: The Dark Angel Symphony is a Kickstarter project started by Peter Connelly to remake the music from the The Last Revelation, Chronicles and The Angel of Darkness games. Whilst Crystal Dynamics and Square Enix had no direct involvement with the project, it was officially licensed until 2021.

History

The first Kickstarter failed to reach the funding goal of $250,141. A second Kickstarter was opened with lower goal of £60,000 on November 2nd, 2018. That goal was reached in 20 days on November 22, 2018 and the Kickstarted ended successfully on December 4th, 2018 without reaching any stretch goals.

The music finished recording on July 29. 2019, and the project moved onto the mixing stage. On November 21st, 2019, project was ready for mastering and printing. On December 21st, 2019 Digital downloads were available, and the rewards were starting to be shipped. While CD's were delayed due to production delays, vinyls were ready on February 8th, 2020. On March 8, 2020 the CDs had arrived from manufacturer, and were ready for shipping to backers. June 13, 2020 the documentary was ready for a premiere. On June 23, 2020 all the packers pledge rewards were shipped.

Murti Schofield joined the project and his original handwritten notes and concept art were part of rewards. This project also inspired Murti to create and release his Kurtis' Journal project.

Limited-edition pledge rewards were created by Matt Chrich (statuette sculptor) and Jennifer Milward (pendant sculptor).

In 2021, Connelly announced that their licence from Square Enix had expired, resulting in the closure of the online store on August 8th, 2021.
