The Tomb Raider Suite is the original Tomb Raider music by Nathan McCree, extended and re-recorded with a live orchestra at Abbey Road Studios, London[1].
Nathan started a Kickstarter for the project in May 26, 2017, which met it's goal in June 25, 2017[2].
History[]
The project started off as a live concert on Tomb Raider 20th Anniversary celebration in December 2016. Since the fans gave several standing ovations, Nathan McCree decided to do a recorded soundtracks for the classic Tomb Raider music from the first 3 games. The music is available on CDs, Double Vinyl Album, and digitally. The initial goal was to record in August 2017 and to have the album available worldwide by November 2017.
The first recordings took place in October 2017. Several fans were present during it as raffle winners[3]. Mixing and mastering took place during January and February 2018, with a proposed release date for the album in 1st May 2018[4]. The release for the album was then delayed to 1st August 2018[5].
A first Composer Buffet Reception for people pledging £150 was held in Hatfield House near London on 28 April 2018[6] with the UK premiere of the Tomb Raider Suite[7], and the second Composer Buffet Reception was planned on being held on 14 July 2018 at the Legion of Honor in San Francisco, but was delayed[8] and seemingly ultimately cancelled.
The Tomb Raider Suite was released digitally on 26th October 2018[9]. The physical copy releases were spread around 2019 as they were completed: The Jewel Case CDs were shipped to backers on February, 2019[10]; the vinyls were shipped on August, 2019[11]; and the Tin CDs were shipped at the start of 2020 in January[12].
