Paveaux is a character that drives the story of Tomb Raider: Curse of the Sword.
Biography[]
Madame Paveaux, a powerful dark magician rose to power in the Deep South. Her practices in dark magic lead many people losing members of their family to her human sacrifices. With the help of a benevolent magician the people eventually rose up and burned her mansion. Madame Paveaux was killed and her body was thrown off of a cliff. One of Madame Paveaux priests however survived and captured her soul. The priest then searched a way to resurrect his master in a new body. He eventually found that the Paveaux Sword, can mark a person, ready to be taken over by Madame Paveaux herself after the correct incantations are read.
In 2001, the sword was recently found at a shipwreck near the coast of Florida, and taken to the Museum of Antiquities in New York. The Paveaux Cult broke into the museum to retrieve the sword. A woman interfered, and was cut by the sword, also cursing her to be Madame Paveaux's next body. Bokor went back to his hideout on Backlin Islands in the Bahamas, to perform the ritual to join Madame Paveaux with the new body. Lara however followed Bokor and killed the priest before he could perform the ritual, and broke the Paveaux Sword, leaving Madame Paveaux trapped in her spirit form.
