Nadija Katlego is a character introduced in Tomb Raider comics.
Biography[]
Nadija Katlego was born in a quiet town in Drina Valley, Srebrenica, Bosnia and Herzegovina. Nadija's father worked as a baker, and her mother was a writer. Nadija also had two bother, both of whom studied in an university. In 1995 the town suffered an attack, which became known as Srebrenica massacre. Nadija's whole family was killed, she fought couple of soldiers, but since she was still eight years old, she couldn't hold her own, she hid and survived the massacre.
In the year 2007, Nadija single-handedly broke into a Trinity building and fought her way to the headman, Ana, as a way to prove her training. Nadija offered the information of the Tomb of Eden to Trinity, as she was in need of resources.
With the resources of Trinity, Nadija was able to find the Tomb of Eden in 2017[1] in Antarctica. She went alone, and traversed to the bottom, where a fossilized tree is. Nadija believes the tree to be the basis of the Tree of Knowledge and the Garden on Eden myth. She took a bite of it's bark, and it opened her mind.
A month later Lara Croft arrived and Nadija had prepared traps for her. After disabling Lara, she lowered her to the bottom of the tomb and told her of her backstory. Nadija also revealed that she doesn't really believe in the Trinity, but is more interested in the history, and she wants Lara to join her. Nadija then forces Lara to consume the bark of the fossilized tree as well, which either expands her mind or kills her.
While Lara was hallucinating, Nadija went to the surface. She was a bit surprised to learn that Lara survived her ordeal and climbed out. Nadija however was more disturbed by the fact that Lara chose to seal the Tomb of Eden. Nadija tried to reach it regardless, but was stopped by Lara on several occasions. Nadija finally just cut the rope she was hanging on to reach the tomb before the lid closed, and seemingly fell to her death.
