Errors and Goofs[]

The Cradle of Life[]

  • Lara and Terry communicate with the residents of a houseboat in Hong Kong using Mandarin. The variation of the Chinese language spoken in Hong Kong is Cantonese instead of Mandarin.
    • The same situation happens when Lara speaks to a family watching a Mandarin-dubbed Spongebob Squarepants episode inside another houseboat, asking them permission to borrow their television to communicate with Bryce in England in order to decipher the code in the Mati.
    • It is possible that the Mandarin speaking residents of Hong Kong in the film are immigrants from Mainland China, working in Hong Kong or escaping the Mainland to avoid political pressures.
  • The airport where Jonathan Reiss's private jet lands is implied to be Kai Tak Airport in Hong Kong due to the distinctive HK skyline in the background. Kai Tak Airport closed on 6 July 1998 at 01:28, with the last arrival at Kai Tak occurring on 5 July 1998 at runway 13 at 23:38. As the film was released in 2003, Reiss should have arrived at the Chek Lap Kok Airport on the merged islands of Chek Lap Kok and Lam Chau. Hong Kong's skyline cannot be seen from Chek Lap Kok Airport.
    • It is possible that Kai Tak airport remained open or was reopened in the original film's universe as a general aviation, state/diplomatic flights, and VIP flights airport.
