El Dorado is a mythical city/empire rumored to be somewhere in South America.
El Dorado was originally only known as El Hombre Dorado ("The Golden Man") or El Rey Dorado ("The Golden King"). Over time the legend grew from being a man, to a city, to a kingdom, and then finally to an empire.
