Challenge Tombs are unique locations in Tomb Raider, Rise of the Tomb Raider, and Shadow of the Tomb Raider. Each Tomb offers a reward for completion.

Tombs feature various types of puzzles that must be solved in order to reach the end. Types of puzzles include:

Some tombs are easily accessible, and merely need to be found to gain access, whereas others will require specific gear in order to gain access such as to clear an obstruction in the path.
In Rise of the Tomb Raider, some tombs will require dealing with a hostile animal (usually a bear) to gain entrance.
Tomb Raider[]
Lara can explore the resting places of Yamatai's nobility, as well as ruins of Army Bases which now house the deceased soldiers who never escaped the island.
Completing a tomb will award the player with a map of collectibles or weapon parts and will mark collectibles on the map if the map has not yet been found. Completing the tomb also awards 1250 XP.

As well as Tombs, there are multiple crypts, which are the final resting places of the devout followers of Prophet of Constantinople who helped with the construction of Kitezh. Crypts do not require a puzzle to be solved, however they should be explored carefully as they are full of booby traps.

Trivia[]
- The tombs in Tomb Raider offering parts for modern weapons as a reward became a joke amongst fans, given that the newest tomb in game would not have technology newer than 1945 at best, yet some of the weapon parts are for weapons from the 1970s onwards.
