Desert Warrior Red-Black
Desert Warrior White-Blue

The Desert Warriors are enemies that appear in Tomb Raider: The Last Revelation and non-canonically in Tomb Raider: Level Editor.

These men are nomadic and dwell in the deserts of Egypt and other countries in Africa. The men of the desert are proud and are able to withstand harsh weather conditions. But the men hired by Professor Werner Von Croy at the end of 1999 are of a different nature. This type are organised bands of looters and often work on behalf of people like Von Croy that are willing to pay handsomely. They are formidable when they attack in groups. They continue serving Von Croy even after he is possessed by Set. In essence they work for Set from then on.

Types[]

Desert Warriors (blue and white robed)[]

The blue and white robed warriors use swords and uzis to attack Lara and can also pursue Lara by climbing up obstacles and travelling across the ceiling.

Desert Warriors (red and black robed)[]

These warriors require a little more tactic in order to defeat them. As well as utilizing swords and uzis like the previous type and able to pursue Lara, these can also produce trident-like blades that can make Lara's bullets bounce off of the blades by spinning the trident in circles.

Development[]

Some earlier renders show a black & blue-robed warrior with an unobscured face. It is unknown if this is an earlier version of one of the warriors or if there was to be a third type of warrior. Considering that there are no known renders of the blue and white robed warriors then it could well be an earlier version of that type.

Originally, the red and black robed warriors had a different face texture, as seen in the right hand image above. They also wielded a pistol that some enemies in Tomb Raider III: Adventures of Lara Croft wielded. There is also evidence that this type were set to appear in the Valley of the Kings level before being omitted in favour of the blue and white robed warriors.

Both types of warriors were also set to appear in the unused Valley Temple level.
