- Alex West was originally named Alex Mars but because the name hadn't been cleared by the legal department it couldn't be used. Simon West decided to name the character Alex West, after his father, since he knew, that if needed, he could get legal clearance for the name.
- His actor, Daniel Craig, later went on to portray James Bond from 2006-2021.
- Daniel Craig adopted an American accent for this role; he would become a US citizen in 2019.
- Both he and his James Bond franchise predecessor, Irish-ethnic Pierce Brosnan, are the only actors from the 007 Franchise to be naturalized American citizens; Brosnan received citizenship fifteen years prior (2004).
