Ahmed Ben Trayal was a minor antagonist in Tomb Raider: The Last Revelation.

History[]

Ahmed was initially hired to be Lara's guide on her search for the Amulet of Horus, a legendary artefact said to be buried in the Tomb of Seth. Journeying by camel through the Valley of the Kings, they experienced a brief moment of peril when Lara attempted to pick up a jewelled object and unintentionally disturbed a nest of scorpion. After escaping the venomous creatures, they eventually came across the remains of a massive statue; upon activating a switch on the statue's forehead, the ground collapsed beneath Lara and and Ahmed and sent them sliding down a tunnel which deposited them into a series of caverns. Unharmed by the eventful descent, Ahmed accompanied Lara through the caverns until they reached the outskirts of the Tomb of Seth, assisting his employer by using a burning torch to light dark areas and prematurely trigger traps. When they reached the entrance to the inner sanctum of the tomb, Ahmed was suddenly struck by fear and fled back to the surface, leaving Lara to enter the tomb on her own.

Lara successfully retrieved the Amulet of Horus and made it back to the surface, where she read the inscription and learned that by removing the artefact from Seth's sarcophagus, she had unwittingly released the god himself. While she was distracted, Ahmed revealed his true colours as a member of Werner Von Croy's workforce when he surprised her with a gun to her head and demanded the artefact. Unperturbed by his betrayal, Lara finished reading the inscription, upon which the entrance to the tomb suddenly exploded and knocked Ahmed to the floor, disarming him and giving Lara the opportunity to surprise him with her own dual pistols.

Luckily for Ahmed, more of Von Croy's henchmen drove up to confront Lara, enabling him to escape via a jeep. Lara killed her attackers and pursued him in another vehicle, and the ensuing chase brought them to the Nile where several henchmen were waiting to ambush her with a blockade of vehicles. Lara escaped by shooting a man carrying a rocket launcher, causing the weapon to fire and destroy the blockade, clearing the way for Lara to drive up a ramp and onto a floating barge. Von Croy arrived soon after and confronted Ahmed while he was tending to the wounding, berating him for letting Lara escape. Ahmed revealed that the inscription Lara had read had mentioned Semerkhet, leading Von Croy and his workforce to the Temple of the ancient Egyptian priest.

During the invasion of the Temple of Semerkhet, Von Croy successfully took the Amulet of Horus from Lara and trapped her in the priest's tomb before taking a helicopter and setting off for Alexendria to locate the Armor of Horus. While he oversaw the loading of the train that would transport the rest of Von Croy's workforce, Ahmed waited outside a tunnel near the railroad. Unknown to Ahmed, the tunnel was connected to the Tomb of Semerkhet. Having escaped via that very tunnel, Lara surprised her treacherous guide and held him at gunpoint. After forcing Ahmed to reveal the train's destination, Lara knocked him unconscious and stole his clothes to disguise herself so she could sneak onto the train. Left behind in the tunnel, Ahmed was confronted by a mysterious red-eyed spirit, possibly Semerkhet's Guardian, and presumably killed.
